Disappointment Sushi
Thermomix recipe: Disappointment Sushi. Ready in 40 minutes. Serves 4. Step-by-step Thermomix instructions on Chef Amai.
Ingredients
- 300 g plain white rice (e.g., long grain, basmati)
- 1000 g water
- 50 g iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
- 8 Nori sheets
- 1/2 tsp salt (optional, for rice)
Instructions
- Place the plain white rice into the simmering basket. Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold running water until the water runs clear. Set aside.
- Add 1000 g water and 1/2 tsp salt (optional) to the mixing bowl. Insert the simmering basket with the rinsed rice.
- Cook 25 min / 100°C / Speed 4. Place the simmering basket on the lid instead of the measuring cup to allow for evaporation and prevent splatter.
- Carefully remove the simmering basket using the spatula hook. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and let it cool slightly for about 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
- While the rice cools, finely shred the 50 g iceberg lettuce.
- Lay one Nori sheet on a clean, dry surface or a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin, even layer of the cooled rice over two-thirds of the Nori sheet, leaving the top edge clear.
- Arrange a small line of shredded iceberg lettuce horizontally across the middle of the rice layer.
- Carefully roll the Nori sheet tightly from the bottom edge upwards, using a little water on the top clear edge to seal the roll.
- Repeat with the remaining Nori sheets, rice, and lettuce. Slice each roll into 6-8 pieces using a sharp, wet knife.
- Serve immediately.
