Thermomix recipe: Classic Homemade Pizza with Tomato Sauce. Ready in 45 minutes. Serves 6. Step-by-step Thermomix instructions on Chef Amai.
Ingredients
- 400 g self-raising flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp salt (for dough)
- 0.25 tsp ground black pepper (for dough)
- 90 g cold butter, cut into cubes
- 270 g milk
- 15 g olive oil
- 1 medium onion (approx. 150g), peeled and quartered
- 1 red pepper (approx. 150g), deseeded and roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled
- 400 g tin finely chopped tomatoes
- 1 tsp dried oregano (plus extra for sprinkling)
- 0.5 tsp salt (for sauce)
- 0.25 tsp ground black pepper (for sauce)
- 100 g grated cheddar cheese
- 50 g grated mozzarella cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (fan). Line a large baking tray (approx. 30x40 cm) with baking paper.
- Add 400 g self-raising flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 0.5 tsp salt, and 0.25 tsp ground black pepper to the Thermomix bowl. Mix 5 sec / Speed 4.
- Add 90 g cold butter (cubed) to the bowl. Mix 10 sec / Speed 6 until a crumbly texture forms.
- Add 270 g milk. Knead 1 min / Dough mode.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Gather it into a smooth ball and then roll it out to fit your prepared baking tray. Carefully transfer the dough to the tray, pressing it into the edges and corners.
- Prick the dough all over with a fork. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside while you prepare the sauce.
- Without cleaning the bowl, add 1 medium onion (quartered), 1 red pepper (roughly chopped), and 2 cloves garlic to the Thermomix bowl. Chop 5 sec / Speed 5. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add 15 g olive oil. Sauté 8 min / 120°C / Speed 1 (Reverse).
- Add 400 g tin finely chopped tomatoes, 1 tsp dried oregano, 0.5 tsp salt, and 0.25 tsp ground black pepper. Cook 15 min / 98°C / Speed 2 (Reverse). Place the simmering basket on the lid instead of the measuring cup to allow steam to escape and prevent splatter.
- Pause after approximately 7-8 minutes of cooking the sauce to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl. Check the thickness and adjust liquid if needed.
- At the end of cooking the sauce, stir 1 min / 90°C / Speed 1 (Reverse) to settle and prevent sticking.
- Spread the prepared tomato sauce evenly over the pre-baked pizza base, right up to the edges.
- Top with 100 g grated cheddar cheese and optional 50 g grated mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with extra dried oregano.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Cut into slices and serve immediately with a side salad or chips.
